FAQs
Does Dentadurance contain alcohol?
No. Dentadurance is free from alcohol, essential oils, and antiseptics. Excluding these harsh ingredients makes our solution safe to use multiple times per session and throughout the day. Dentadurance is also pH-balanced to help athletes maintain a healthy oral biome.
In comparison, most mouthwashes are acidic and/or contain harsh ingredients. This limits their use to once or twice per day to reduce the risk of irritation and other adverse effects. Unlike Dentadurance, standard oral care was never designed for athletes.
How does Dentadurance protect my teeth?
Neutralise
Dentadurance helps neutralise acids and raise oral pH back toward a healthier level between fuels. Our mouthwash also helps reduce acid production by oral bacteria, reducing the impact your next fuel can have on your teeth.
Strengthen
Dentadurance provides key minerals to help strengthen enamel that has been attacked by acids from fuel. With repeat use, Dentadurance further helps manage tooth sensitivity to make fuelling more comfortable for athletes.
Clear
Dentadurance contains ingredients that help clear any leftover fuel, reducing the risk to your teeth with each rinse. Our solution also supports the production of saliva - your mouth's natural defence - which can be suppressed during exercise.
Can't I just brush my teeth or rinse with water after fuel?
Brushing is vital for healthy teeth, but standard dental advice is to avoid brushing within 30 to 60 minutes of fuelling. Acids from fuels temporarily soften enamel, and brushing too soon can wear away this protective layer. Dentists also emphasise quality over quantity when it comes to brushing. Both are hard to achieve mid-performance, and overbrushing can permanently damage teeth and gums.
While water is better than nothing, it only dilutes acid and clears some residue: diluting acid isn't the same as neutralising it. Crucially, water doesn’t have the minerals and ingredients your teeth need during performance to help neutralise acids, strengthen enamel, and support saliva. Dentadurance does.
How can fuelling damage my teeth?
Fuelling can damage your teeth because it increases acidity in your mouth. This happens in two ways:
Bacteria in the mouth feed on the carbohydrates in fuel and release harmful acid as a byproduct
Many fuels are also inherently acidic from the ingredients they use to enhance flavour and shelf-life
Every time you fuel, your mouth becomes more acidic.
As a result, fuelling puts your teeth at a significant risk of damage over time.
